It is known today that the production and release of pituitary gonadotropins are governed by hypothalamic centers that have the ability to react to estrogen and progesterone concentrations in circulation, to modify the regulation practicing in the pituitary. The follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), also called stimulating hormone interstitial cells (ICSH), and luteotropic hormone (LTH) are hormones produced by the anterior pituitary that relate specifically to the regulation ovulation.
Se sabe hoy día que la producción y liberación de gonadotrofinas hipofisarias son regidas por centros hipotalámicos que tienen la facultad de reaccionar a las concentraciones de estrógenos y progesterona en la circulación, al modificar la regulación que ejercen en la hipófisis. La hormona estimulante de los folículos (FSH), la hormona luteinizante (LH) , también llamada hormona estimulante de las células intersticiales (ICSH), y la hormona luteotrópica (LTH) son hormonas elaboradas por la adenohipófisis que guardan relación específica con la regulación de la ovulación.
