The anesthetic management of patients toxemic is a challenge for the  anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist should play a leading role in the development of delivery of toxemic patient. Because of his experience in pain management, care of the airways and ventilatory care and monitoring of the important effects that both toxemia and its treatment can have the anesthesia, the anesthesiologist should be named in consultation early to take rightful role in the care of these patients. As medical practice is unacceptable to call the anesthesiologist just before delivery to say, "Now is the time to sleep in the patient."
El manejo anestésico de las pacientes toxémicas es un reto para el Anestesiólogo. El anestesiólogo debe desempeñar un papel preponderante en el desarrollo del parto de la paciente toxémica. Debido a su experiencia en el control del dolor, cuidado de las vías aéreas, cuidados ventilatorios y monitorización y de los importantes efectos que tanto la toxemia como su tratamiento pueden ejercer sobre la anestesia, el anestesiólogo debe ser llamado en consulta pronto para poder asumir el importante papel que le corresponde en el cuidado de estas pacientes. Como práctica médica es inaceptable llamar al anestesiólogo momentos antes del parto para decirle: "Ahora es el momento de dormir a la paciente".
