A pesar de los años transcurridos y por más que en estos últimos tiempos parecería haberse orientado el estudio de las toxemias hipertensivas hacía derroteros más promisores, aún puede repetirse que su etiopatogenia sigue justificando la denominación que se le diera de "enfermedad de las teorías” (Zweifel). Pero antes de abordar la enumeración de las que actualmente se da más asidero como determinantes del eclampsismo y de la eclampsia, es preciso referir una serie de hechos que concurren como FACTORES PREDISPONENTES para "facilitar" su estallido.
