El presente trabajo de índole teórica, tiene por finalidad explicar los fundamentos del poder practicados durante el Perú colonial desentrañando los fundamentos teóricos con los que fueron explicados y racionalizados. La lógica del poder imperial y virreinal fue racionalizada principalmente por juristas y tratadistas del derecho español y destacados exponentes de la teología moral. Asimismo, se hace mención de los mecanismos empleados por los virreyes para poder legitimarse ante el estado civil y religioso y ante la plebe urbano rural.
