Returning to the land concentration in Perú

In this article I present the new process of land concentration in Peru that has been taking place in the last fifteen years in the context of the laws generated inside the neoliberal model. These laws have allowed the emergency of the latifundium in the most fertile lands of the peruvian coast. Its production is mainly for export. Similarly mining concesions, oil and forestry are generating a new type of land concentration, degrading or destroying this resource together with the existing biodiversity. Finally,the prior consent of indigenous communities established in the Convention 169 ILO signed by the Peruvian state is not been respected as the land in their territories is being handed over as concessions.
En este artículo presento el nuevo proceso de concentración de tierras en el Perú producido en los últimos quince años, teniendo como marco las normas legales del modelo neoliberal. Éstas han permitido la emergencia del latifundio en las mejores tierras que se encuentran en la costa peruana, cuya producción es principalmente para la exportación. Asimismo, las concesiones mineras, petroleras y forestales también vienen conduciendo a un nuevo tipo de concentración de tierras que degrada o destruye este recurso junto con la biodiversidad existente. Finalmente, ha sido incumplida la consulta previa a los pueblos indígenas para entregar en concesión las tierras que se encuentran en su territorio tal como lo establece el Convenio 169 de la OIT suscrito por el Estado peruano.
