The study area presents a shape that approximates that of a parallelogram, occupying 335,000 Ha., Having as limits by the north with the Huaura river basin, by the East with the Mantaro river basin coinciding with the continental watershed , by the South with the Chillón river basin and by the West with the Pacific Ocean.
El área de estudio presenta una forma que se aproxima a la de un paralelogramo, ocupando 335,000 Ha., teniendo como límites por el norte con la cuenca del río Huaura, por el Este con la cuenca del río Mantaro coincidiendo con la divisoria continental de aguas, por el Sur con la cuenca del río Chillón y por el Oeste con el Océano Pacífico.
