Traceability and animal identification programmes will be strengthened in the next few years as a system of quality assurance in which veterinary services will have a key role in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation for the proper functioning of public health worldwide.La trazabilidad de los animales y sus productos a lo largo de su proceso productivo permite identificar, verificar y aislar los alimentos potencialmente peligrosos para los consumidores, al tiempo que asegura el control de enfermedades animales de reporte obligatorio, facilitando el control de enfermedades zoonóticas y permitiendo el acceso a mercados específicos más rentables.
