The subject of Language has become, in schools and universities, in a mixtureof techniques belonging to the artificial languages, with ideas and concepts comingfrom the old traditional grammar. This has turned into an incomprehensiblechaos, and it is didactically harmful because it only leads to confusion amongother things.Artificial languages are certainly very important and their teaching cannot beforgotten, but we must bear in mind that artificial languages have nothing to dowith the natural languages we use in our daily life and which let us engage in intellectualcreation, a fact that cannot be overlooked. Courses of artificial languagesare fine, but never at the expense of eliminating the study of real languages andtheir historical and present products.
La asignatura de Lengua se ha transformado, en colegios y universidades, en una mezcla de las técnicas propias de los lenguajes artificiales con las ideas y conceptos provenientes de la vieja gramática tradicional, de lo cual ha resultado un caos incomprensible y didácticamente dañino, pues sólo conduce a la confusión entre cosas diferentes. Los lenguajes artificiales son sin duda importantísimos y su enseñanza no puede olvidarse hoy, aunque recordando siempre que nada tienen que ver con las lenguas naturales con las que nos comunicamos en la vida diaria y con las que podemos entrar en la creación intelectual: algo a lo que nadie puede negarle importancia. Bien está que haya cursos de lenguajes artificiales, pero nunca a costa de eliminar el estudio de la lengua real y de los productos presentes e históricos de ella.
