Ulomoides dermestoides Fairmaire, 1893 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae), is a pest of stored grains, aff ecting the germination and commercial value of the seeds. Ricinus communis (Linneo, 1753) (Euphorbiaceae) has compounds with phytotoxic properties such as ricinin (toxic alkaloid), and, ricin (phytotoxic albumin). Th is research aims to evaluate the biocidal eff ect of R. communis essential oil extracted by maceration and Soxhlet methods on larvae of the last stages and adults of U. dermestoides. Th e experimental design consisted of a control group (C) and three experimental groups E1 (33%), E2 (60%), and E3 (70.4%), with four repetitions per treatment. Th e evaluation period was 120 hours in 24-hour intervals. Th e results obtained indicate that treatments E2 and E3 have the greatest biocidal eff ect on larvae and adults of U. dermestoides, recording the highest number of dead individual...

Currently, the use of agrochemicals is necessary for the production of foodstuffs of agroindustrial interest such as tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). These are applied mainly as growth stimulants for the crop; however, they also bring with them problems that affect the environment and human health, so better alternatives are being sought to reduce their use; in view of this, chitosan is presented as an option for plant biostimulants. The objective of this research was to study the effect of chitosan extracted from the shell of Romaleon setosum (Molina, 1782) or "hairy crab" on the germination and development of S. lycopersicum seedlings. The extracted chitosan was applied to tomato seeds at concentrations of 1000, 2000 and 3000 mg/l, and germination percentage was evaluated after 10 days and growth indicators every seven days over a three-week period. The results showed that the seeds t...

Ulomoides dermestoides (Fairmare,1893), commonly known as the peanut weevil, is an insect belonging to the order Coleoptera, family Tenebrionidae; it is characterized by being a pest of different stored grains such as peanuts, corn, and oats, among others; generating large economic losses. Azadirachtin is a triterpenoid present in the leaves, seeds, and trunk of the Azadirachta indica A. Juss (Neem) tree, belonging to the Meliaceae family, which has demonstrated a biocidal effect on different pests, acting at a reproductive, hormonal, digestive and neurological level, without causing harmful effects. to the ecosystem. In this study, the biocidal and repellent effect of the extract and powder of A. indica leaves on U. dermestoides was evaluated by spraying the leaves dehydrated for 48 h at 40°C and their extract by hydrodistillation. The experimental design to evaluate the biocidal and r...

Hydrocarbon contamination is one of the main causes of infertility in areas, leaving very critical levels for the ecosystem, reaching the point of being considered as one of the most concurrent problems due to the uncontrolled management of these by the industrial and productive sector. That is why new strategies have been formulated as a more reliable alternative in situations of response to hydrocarbon spills, with bioremediation with fungi and bacteria being the most efficient strategy. That is why this study aimed to determine the bioremediation effect of filamentous fungi (Aspergillus, Penicillium, Geotrichum, and, Rhizopus) in soil contaminated with 90 octane gasoline (Petroil Gasolina Premium). For this study, 6 kg of soil contaminated with 50 mL, 150 mL and 300 mL of 90 octane gasoline was used, along with four treatments X1 (Penicillium, Geotrichum, and, Rhizopus), X2 (Aspergill...

Peru is the second largest producer of asparagus, with a production of more than 366 thousand tons per year, its crops are developed mainly in La Libertad, Ica and Lima, its export is mainly to the United States, and in some European countries, also distributed to the domestic market, but during transport and storage problems have been identified that accelerates the expiration of asparagus to increase its high respiratory rate. Therefore, new methods are sought to preserve and delay the senescence of green asparagus, and the following objective of the light emitting diode (LED) that has effect on the photosynthesis of green asparagus Asparagus officinalis L. in the postharvest and if it would serve as a method of conservation. For the realization of this work, four experiments were carried out: A control group kept in total darkness and three other experimental groups that were exposed ...
