Objetivo: Determinar la asociación entre enteroparasitosis y anemia en niños menores de 5 años atendidos en el Hospital I Uldarico Rocca Fernández durante el año 2017. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal, retrospectivo, correlacional. La población en estudio estuvo comprendida por niños entre los 0 a 5 años de edad que fueron atendidos en el Servicio de Pediatría, que contaron con el examen parasitológico seriado y dosaje de hemoglobina realizados en el laboratorio clínico del Hospital I Uldarico Rocca Fernández. Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis, accounting for 14% of total tuberculosis cases, represents an uncommon manifestation, with osteoarticular involvement being a rare form. We present the case of a 28-year-old male patient who initially exhibited respiratory symptoms and subsequently developed acute pain and swelling in the second finger of the right hand after exertion. Specific treatment was initiated at a peripheral center upon the isolation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in sputum. However, due to persistent symptoms and the need for further investigations, the patient was referred to a more specialized center. A biopsy of the swelling was performed, yielding a positive result for GeneXpert MTB/RIF. Infection by T. gondii is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among people infected with HIV. The disease presents cerebral or encephalic involvement, especially among severely immunosuppressed patients. We present the case of HIV-infected pregnant women who presented with focal neurological manifestations during the second trimester of gestation. A single intracerebral lesion was found on brain imaging, and a brain biopsy and PCR identified toxoplasmosis. She improved clinically and radiographically after receiving proper treatment. The main contribution of our case is implementing a molecular test to define the diagnosis instead of a therapeutic challenge that may not make the diagnosis.
