Fisheries and biological aspects of the freshwater prawn Cryphiops caementarius are reported based on surveys in the Ocoña, Majes-Camana, and Tambo rivers in the period September-December 2013. A small fraction of the population showed sizes larger than 120 mm, where the largest individuals were found in the Majes-Camana river (mode: 79 mm). There were a higher proportion of females in the Majes-Camana river, predominance of gonads in the incipient stage of maduration in individuals of the Ocoña and Tambo rivers, higher density (individuals/m2) and higher biomass (g/m2) in the lower altitudinal strata, and larger concentration rates in the Majes-Camana and Tambo rivers. Besides, the main physicochemical parameters of water quality showed favorable conditions for the prawn population development.

Based on surveys in the Cañete river (Peru) in the period 2000-2015, information concerning fisheries and biological aspects of the population of fresh water prawn Cryphiops caementarius is reported. Also, physicochemical parameters of water quality were determined to establish the relationship between these and resource distribution throughout the watershed prospected. The main results indicate a minimum fraction of individuals with above 120 mm size (<5%). According to the analysis of the «b» parameter of the length-weight relationship, the evaluated population will be composed of individuals with a higher weight relative to their size, higher proportion of male specimens, and higher density and mean biomass in the lower altitudinal strata. «Chiochio» (Psectrogaster rutiloides) is one of the 10 representative species in the catches of the commercial fleet of Pucallpa, Peru. The aim of this study was to generate information for the understanding of its biology and fishery. Reproductive aspects (time of reproduction, size at maturity [TPM], sex ratio), relationship Length-Weight, growth and rate of exploitation were studied in chiochio landed in Pucallpa ports between 2008 and 2012. Data of length frequency distribution were used to estimate the proportion of individuals below the estimated landed TPM.
