The management of late blight (Phytophthora infestans) in the potato crop is a constraint for growers in Colombia, and it is important to seek alternatives for its control. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate a decision support system (DSS) for the management of the disease in three potato varieties. For this purpose, an experiment was established in the municipality of Mosquera, Cundinamarca (Colombia), with three treatments (DSS management [T1], positive control [T2] and negative control [T3]) in a crop cycle with three cultivars (cv Diacol Capiro, cv Ica Única and cv Suprema). Yield variables, late blight severity, area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC) and its relative area (rAUDPC) were measured. The use of DSS (T1) resulted in yields comparable to those obtained with strictly chemical management (T2). There were statistically significant differences (p &l...

Onion crop (Allium fistulosum L.) has found an important niche in Colombian agriculture, with few studies of mycorrhizal symbiosis in productive zones. The objective of this study was to identify Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) and their relationship with agroecological zones in the onion production system. In the department of Antioquia, 23 rhizosphere soil samples were collected in lots with established onion crops for the determination of AMF, and GIS layers of the agroecological zones were applied to superimpose them. A total of 34 AMF morphospecies represented in the families Glomeraceae, Claroideoglomeraceae, Acaulosporaceae, Gigasporaceae, Ambisporaceae and Paraglomeraceae were found. The highest AMF importance value was presented by Glomus trufemii, followed by Glomus tenerum, Claroideoglomus etunicatum, Glomus microcarpum and Glomus warcupii. High affinity of the AMF Glomus s...

Water is fundamental for the development of life, its care and good management being a responsibility that we must have when we use it. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of two irrigation techniques on the yield and volume of water applied to the potato crop. For this, an experiment was established under two irrigation alternatives (proposed and traditional) in a potato cycle of the Tuquereña variety, in the municipality of Toca, department of Boyacá (Colombia). Where properties of each irrigation proposal were measured (uniformity of application, volume of water applied, irrigation efficiency) and at the end of the crop cycle, information on crop performance was taken. Statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) were presented when the proposed irrigation system was used, increasing production by 3 tons per hectare and reducing the volume of wa...

The pathogen Fusarium oxysporum is the major limiting factor in the production of the cape gooseberry crop Physalis peruviana, due to the inexperience of growers to identify and manage it. The objective of this research was to identify the relationship between the chemical characteristics of the soil and the presence and absence of Fusarium oxysporum. Soil samples were collected from 100 cape gooseberry production units. This process was carried out in plots with healthy plants and plants affected by the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum Schltdl. Descriptive analysis, Pearson correlations, principal components (PCA) and Machine Learning models were used to analyze the information associated with the chemical elements of the soil of cape gooseberry farms. The Decision Tree Classifier model showed the best predictive performance with Accuracy metrics of 0.58, Recall of 0.57, and F1 Score of 0.51...
