This article presents a panoramic analysis and a situational overview on the principal developments of the notion of responsible assessment and the guiding principle of open science in Peru, within the framework of a global research and policy agenda driven by various studies, reports, and declarations. To this end, the paper reviews and analyzes advancements related to three central components of open science: open access, open research data, and citizen science. Then, it explores some of the challenges the scientific and university ecosystem faces regarding academic and research assessment. The approach is qualitative, drawing on a diversity of documentary and statistical sources.
