The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Geisel agar medium prepared at different concentrations of Moringa oleifera (Moringaceae) in comparison with a commercial medium on the growth and development of Escherichia coli strains. Microbial growth was evaluated at different concentrations of Moringa oleifera (Moringa), 0.1, 1 and 5% (w/v) in a culture medium called Geisel Agar and as a control a commercial agar plate culture medium. Bacteria were inoculated using a multiple streaking technique (with depletion) and then incubated to prevent condensation during incubation at 37 °C for 24 to 48 h. To evaluate the growth of strains expressed in colony-forming units, we considered cultural and microscopic characteristics. We conclude that an alternative culture medium prepared with a 1% dilution of Moringa oleifera Geisel agar contains the necessary and sufficient n...

The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of the application of different organic fertilizers on the development of plant height, bulb diameter and germinated cloves of garlic (Allium sativum). A completely randomized design (DCA) was used with a total of 4 treatments with 3 repetitions. The treatments were T0: Absolute control without substrate, T1: Agricultural land proportion 1:1 with vermicompost with sheep manure, T2: Agricultural land plus Biol at 10% in aqueous dilution, T3: Agricultural land plus 10% ash from organic waste and without addition it acted as a control. Data were analyzed with the SAS GLM procedure and treatment means were compared with Tukey's test. The results showed that the addition of Biol at 10% in aqueous dilution and Vermicompost with sheep manure to the garlic crop (Allium sativum) had the most beneficial effect on germination, diameter and he...

Ethnobotany emerges as a fundamental field to understand the complex interactions between human communities and local flora, especially highlighting the cultural and medicinal importance of plants. This study focused on documenting traditional knowledge on the use of medicinal plants in the Amazon region, specifically in the districts of La Peca, Amazonas, Peru, during the period from October 2019 to January 2021. The research involved 48 local residents of different ages and genders in La Peca, employing semi-open methods to explore their knowledge about medicinal plants, as well as their uses and methods of preparation. The study documented 113 medicinal plant species in the Amazon region, highlighting Rosaceae, Euphorbiaceae and Rutaceae. Leaves (46.0%) and stems (27.0%) are mainly used, prepared mainly by crushing (52.0%) and cooking (38.0%). Consumption as infusion is common (94.0%)...
