The objective of this article is to describe the therapeutic itineraries for the care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities in Argentina and Chile. As a methodological strategy, we will present secondary data and some of the findings of two independent qualitative studies. The results show that when pursuing healthcare, people with disabilities and their families face situations that are negative for their quality of life, social participation, and self-esteem. In this way, their position of disadvantage and social devaluation is reproduced.

El objetivo de este artículo es describir los itinerarios terapéuticos en busca del cuidado de la salud y la rehabilitación de las personas con discapacidad de Argentina y Chile. Para ello, se presentan datos secundarios y se retoma parte de los hallazgos de dos investigaciones cualitativas independientes realizadas en estos países. Los resultados muestran que, en el recorrido de la búsqueda de su salud, las personas con discapacidad junto a sus familiares afrontan situaciones negativas para su bienestar, su participación social y su autoestima. De este modo, se reproduce su situación de desventaja y devaluación social.

Crisis situations that affect care provision such as that caused by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic invite us to reflect on how responsibilities are distributed among the different actors. The multiple changes in everyday lives caused by the pandemic were accompanied by state actions and community initiatives. This context involved various ways of identifying and interpreting care and responding to the needs detected. This article describes and reflects on significant experiences of community organization among vulnerable populations in the cities of Madrid and Buenos Aires to provide the necessary care during the pandemic. The study relied on secondary sources: specialized bibliography, newspaper articles, technical reports, legislation and official government websites. In addition, key informants were consulted.

Ante las situaciones de crisis que ocurren en la provisión del cui­dado, la provocada por la pandemia del SARS-CoV-2 invita a reflexionar acerca de cómo se distribuyen las responsabilidades entre los diferentes actores. Los escenarios de múltiples cambios en el orden cotidiano que oca­sionó la pandemia fueron acompañados de acciones impulsadas o llevadas a cabo por el Estado y por diversas formas de iniciativas comunitarias. Este contexto generó variadas maneras de identificar e interpretar los cuidados, y de responder a las necesidades detectadas. Este artículo se propone describir y reflexionar sobre experiencias significativas de organización comunitaria en poblaciones vulnerables para afrontar los cuidados necesarios ante la crisis provocada por la pandemia en las ciudades de Madrid y Buenos Aires.
