Our review of the literature has identified that there is no clarity on the influence of trust or distrust between firms as control mechanisms aimed at achieving the objectives of a strategic alliance.

Las Alianzas Estratégicas constituyen formas de asociación que se encuentran en casi todas las actividades de la Administración de Negocios. Su presencia ha motivado que exista un importante volumen de investigaciones relacionadas con ellas, enfocadas a sus motivaciones, formas de negociación, tipos de Alianzas Estratégicas, factores y teorías explicativas. En este contexto, el propósito de este documento es entender en qué medida el Control, en su rol de Factor Crítico de Éxito, contribuye al Éxito de las Alianzas Estratégicas, definiendo Éxito como el cumplimiento del contrato entre las firmas, en tiempo y especificaciones.

Las alianzas estratégicas son acuerdos complejos en el cual dos o más socios independientes asumen el compromiso de alcanzar sus objetivos compartiendo recursos, coordinando actividades, controlándose mutuamente y distribuyendo riesgos y costos. Sin embargo, las alianzas estratégicas exhiben una tasa de éxito muy baja con tasas de fracaso del 50 % o más debido a factores como nacionalidad, localización, periodos de contratación entre otros, mostrando la alta complejidad que las caracteriza.
