Background: In the case of asthma, one of the problems faced by patients and health services is the poor adherence to maintenance medication, which limits disease control. Treatment perception (necessity for treatment and concern for adverse effects of treatment) has been one of the psychological variables that has been best associated with this problem. The aim of this study was to evaluate, compare and relate the treatment perception, adherence behaviors and disease control in Mexican adults with asthma. Method: 267 adults with asthma from Mexico City participated, who responded to an evaluation battery. Results: The main results show that patients with high perceived necessity of treatment and low concern about the adverse effects of treatment are more adherent and have better asthma control than patients with high necessity and high concern with low necessity...

The objective of this research was the adaptation to the Spanish language and statistical validation of Scale of Perceived Social Support (SPSS). This scale was chosen because by its metric properties and adequacy in the construction. Its theoretical structure is consistent with the type of findings and research on the international area. The analysis of the results showed some differences with regard to the English version -less items in our study- probably due to cultural contrasts. However, another type of variables cannot be ruled out. The relative value of this adaptation may be evaluated by empirical studies that realize the construct of social support as defined, and in agreement with the theoretical framework for construction of the scale in question.

Qualitative research on success in life suggests that this construct is explained by a five-dimensional model: personal growth, social recognition, social goals, happiness, and interpersonal relationships. However, this model has not been evaluated from the point of view of other paradigms to verify its validity. This investigation aimed to test the proposed model of success in life by validating a scale. The first version of the Success in Life Scale, consisting of 72 items, was applied online to 712 volunteers living in the metropolitan area of the Mexico valley. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) allowed us to obtain a final scale of 43 items distributed in six factors that explain 64.71 % of the variance. A confirmatory factorial analysis (CFA) validated this structure. Internal consistency analysis of the scale showed α = .95. So, we conclude that success in life is explained by ...
