OBJETIVE: To determine the relationship between some factors, including delays described by Thadeus and Maine, and maternal mortality. DESIGN: non-experimental, transversal, correlational and retrospective study. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data collection was performed using the technique of analysis of secondary data sources (epidemiological research records of maternal death). To find the relationship between maternal mortality and factors parametric chi-square test was used. RESULTS: During the study period (1999-200) reports of 124 maternal deaths were found. The reason was 194.7 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. The direct causes accounted for 54.1% of all maternal deaths and within the bleeding was 33.9%, hypertensive disease of pregnancy 8.9% and 8.1% infections. Objetive: To determine the association of pregnant women hemoglobin levels and some maternal and newborn characteristics. Design: Retrospective, observational and correlation study. Setting: Hospital Regional de Loreto, Peru, a teaching hospital. Participants: Pregnant women and their newborns. Interventions: The sample included 320 pregnant women, and we used simple randomized system and an instrument elaborated by the investigators. Main outcome measures: Hemoglobin levels in both mother and her newborn. Results: Average mother’s age was 24 years with high school education, and most were housewife, multiparous and lived together with their partners. Hemoglobin levels in the second trimester were 11-13 g/dL (72,2%) and 9-10 g/dL (27,2%), average 11,4. DESIGN: Prospective study in 260 women in their immediate puerperium attended at the Obstetrics ang Ginecology Department, Loreto Regional Hospital, by an inquiry applied by two students midwifery with previous capacitation. RESULTS: 7,5% were yearold, 27,3% between 15 and 19 years, 57,3% between 20 and 35 years and 8,1% older than 35; 54% were multiparae and 40% primiparae; 92,4% started relations before age 20, 59,6% had more than 2 relations by month during the first half of pregnancy and only 34,6 during the second half. Frequency of sexual relations decreased in 87,3% compared to prepregnancy and 70% bad decreased libido; 17,7% were afraid of harming their fetus during sexual relations. In the present work, the effect of the educational program "Sexual Education" was measured in the improvement of professional competences of the students of the first level of the Secondary Education Career with a specialty in Language and Literature of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities - Universidad Nacional de la Amazonia Peruana, Iquitos 2021. The research work was a longitudinal study with a pre-experimental design of pre-test and post-test type of a single group, that is, without a control group. The sample consisted of 22 students.
