This article analyses the aesthetic-ideological proposal of Ricardo Piglia’s novel La ciudad ausente (1992). The aim is to elucidate how this work rethinks the link between the subject and collective memory in the context of a dystopian post-conflict scenario defined by repression and censorship in the social sphere. In this respect, it is hypothesised that in Piglia’s work there is an effort to recompose social ties and to nourish a form of resistance to power through the re-actualisation of the mythical foundation of language (the ‘white knots’). El trabajo estudia la manera en que en el poema “Breve estudio de Jorge Manrique” de Enrique Verástegui se plantea un cuestionamiento de los valores de la cultura occidental como parte de un enfoque dirigido a visibilizar la colonialidad de poder que organiza el conocimiento y el ser. La hipótesis señala que en el texto analizado se singulariza y reinterpreta el legado de la poesía de Manrique desligándolo del marco de sentido de la tradición. Así, se trasciende la cosmovisión establecida por la razón eurocentrada para reivindicar, en cambio, determinadas concepciones acerca de la existencia, la muerte y el paso del tiempo. Esta operación de sentido no solo pone en duda la centralidad de la cultura europea, sino que sustrae de sus categorías universales otras nociones que son recuperadas en un gesto disidente y contrahegemónico.

This article analyzes the religious subtext of “El dios cansado”, one of the best-known poems by José María Eguren (1874-1942). The analysis focuses on the representation of the divine in this text and the multiple enunciative operations from which a critique of the image of the Christian divinity is formulated. Within the framework of a reflection on nihilism and the crisis of enlightened rationalism, it tries to demonstrate how in the analyzed poem Eguren’s writing assumes the Nietzschean topic of the death of God to reinterpret the image of the divine, reveal the inconsistency of the hegemonic discourses and reconsider the place of poetic saying in front of the sacred.

Según plantean Rouillón y Debarbieri, hay dos maneras distintas de interpretar la presencia de lo divino en la obra de Eguren. Por un lado, se la puede asociar con las fuerzas conflictivas y contradictorias que gobiernan el cosmos, mientras que, por otro lado, se la puede concebir como la encarnación de los valores e ideales movilizados por el discurso del poeta. En el trasfondo de estas visiones, se aprecia una nueva faz de lo divino. Ella se caracteriza por su extrañeza, ambigüedad y misterio irreductibles. Al mismo tiempo, en su asociación con la naturaleza, se distingue por su alejamiento de los cánones establecidos por el cristianismo. En la presente tesis se busca analizar dicha compleja imagen de lo divino recreada por Eguren.
