Mucous membrane pemphigoid is an autoimmune disease that affects different layers from mucosa and skin, characterized by polymorphic vesicular-bullous lesions, presenting variable combinations of oral, ocular, skin, genital, nasopharyngeal, esophageal, and laryngeal lesions. Its relationship to malignant neoplasms is poorly understood and remains controversial. This article describes the multidisciplinary management of a 46-year-old patient who developed mucous membrane pemphigoid at the oral cavity level. This pathology was associated with lung carcinoma, and later presented multiorgan alterations, for which a treatment was carried out with the specialties of dermatology, internal medicine, general surgery, ophthalmology, stomatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, said treatment was carried out in stages and lasted for approximately 2 months, achieving the resolution about lesions tha...

Many systemic disorders such as arthritis or osteoporosis are pathologies responsible of temporomandibular joint chronic dysfunctions, thus creating a long-term problem that affects life´s quality of those who suffer from them. Currently there is no curative treatment for these pathologies, although there is a palliative treatment, which in many cases have side effects over time or a limitation in their effectiveness and efficacy, so it is necessary to look for alternatives with the implementation of regenerative therapies for treatment of those diseases that affect musculoskeletal system. In many studies the fundamental role of zinc and strontium in genesis of both cartilaginous and bone tissue is discussed, as well as the relevance of incorporating them with various biomaterials in regeneration procedures, however, this issue is not clear yet and requires more attention from the clini...

Objectives: To clinically and sociodemographically characterize bony exostoses in the stomatognathic system, identifying their prevalence, anatomical distribution, and potential associated factors such as family history and oral parafunctional habits. Materials and Methods: A retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted using 178 medical records of patients treated between 2020 and 2024 at a private stomatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Medellín. Sociodemographic, anatomical, environmental variables, and family history were analyzed. Data collection was performed via a standardized form, followed by descriptive statistical analysis. Results: Eighty-three percent of patients were female and 17% male, with a mean age of 37 ± 3 years. Forty-five percent originated from the Andean region. Bony exostoses were predominantly located in the mandible (54.7%)...
