La violencia juvenil expresada a través de pandillas escolares es un problema social que se ha extendido en nuestro país durante esta década. Este fenómeno es estudiado en una muestra de 962 adolescentes varones que asisten a colegios estatales considerados territorios de las principales pandillas escolares de Lima. Se administraron diversas escalas cuya validez y confiabilidad fue establecida en estudios previos y en el presente. A través del análisis multivariable y mediante la T de Hottelling se ha podido apreciar que pertenecer a pandillas escolares y el neuroticismo afectan directamente las expresiones emocionales vitales y la percepción de la violencia. El inventario del cociente emocional de BarOn (I-CE) se aplicó a una muestra representativa de 1.996 sujetos de Lima Metropolitana, varones y mujeres, de 15 años y más. El análisis factorial confirmatorio de segundo orden sobre los componentes del I-CE ha verificado la estructura factorial 5-1 propuesta por el modelo ecléctico de la inteligencia emocional de BarOn (1997). Se halló que la inteligencia emocional tiende a incrementarse con la edad, y el sexo tiene efectos diferenciales para la mayoría de los componentes factoriales. El coeficiente alfa de .93 para el CE total revela la consistencia interna del inventario. Se presentan normas de administración, calificación e interpretación.

Percentile norms are presented for the Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale (RADS). They were obtained from a sample of 1.963 Peruvian secondary students, all men and women, from public and private schools. The alpha coefficients obtained were above .87, showing the internal consistency of the scale. It was found that depression is higher in women and in public schools’students. Factorial analyses were performed: the rotated six factor orthogonal solution (Varimax) was obtained accounting for 45,8 percent of the total variance: Demoralization, anger and sadness, anhedonia, low self-esteem, somaticvegetative and school anxiety.

The BarOn Emotional Inventory was standardized in a representative sample of 3.375 subjects (7-18 years old) from the urban area of Lima. The factorial structure was determined for the complete and brief version of the inventory by means of a principal component analysis with varimax rotation, including sex, age and type of school (state and private) variables. Four empirical factors were confirmed, including intrapersonal, interpersonal, adaptability and stress management as initially found by BarON (2000). Indicators of divergent validity between emotional intelligence and depression constructs were revealed.

The problem of inferential comprehension of specialized texts by students of general studies at a private university (N=717) was the main axis of analysis in this study. The intention was to know the strategies that they used to understand a scientific text. When we analyzed by means of the factorial analysis the cognitive activities they undertook when reading a text of Psychology, we reached a solution of two factors: F1, macro structural processing; and F2 model of the situation. The intervention of the professors was recommended who must promote their approach to the text and teach them adequate strategies for the comprehension of scientific texts of the courses they are in charge.
