The current report is a consulting project that has been elaborated for Servicios Industriales de la Marina S.A (SIMA). The motivation behind the study is to analyze the current issues within the company in order to assess and recommend a list of possible solutions for the client. At present, the main problem plaguing SIMA is its low levels of competitiveness within the metalworking sector. The report therefore conducted a thorough analysis to remedy the issue through the recommendation of both short and long term solutions. El presente proyecto comprende el análisis y diseño de una estructura de 7 pisos, tanto en el caso que tuviera aislamiento en la base, como si no lo tuviera. La edificación está ubicada en la ciudad de Lima sobre buen suelo, y tendrá como fin el de un Museo. Este proyecto contemplará un análisis comparativo entre los dos diseños y sus respectivos comportamientos. El empleo de aisladores sísmicos en estructuras es una aplicación de la ingeniería civil que busca proteger las estructuras y sus contenidos de los efectos de los movimientos sísmicos. Su aplicación en el Perú esta apenas en sus inicios, sin embargo ya muchos países, tales como Chile, Japón y los Estados Unidos poseen normas y disposiciones relevantes al empleo de estos mecanismos aisladores. Su empleo ha garantizado ser una forma muy efectiva de prevenir los efectos devastadores de los terremotos.
