The 21st century began with very complex problems that have been producing a great ecological, social and economic impact: natural catastrophes, social inequalities, wars and migrations of scale. All this in a context of globalization with exclusion and segregation of an increasingly precarious and vulnerable population. This situation produced by the establishment of an extractive and predatory model that has been installed in the Latin American region, which constantly threatens the possibility of sustainability as a way of life. The main objective of this article is to reflect on the fundamentals of the current crisis and its link with the region's development model and the risks to sustainability. For this, and hermeneutical analysis is proposed, the theoretical approach of decolonial sociology is used, which allows us to situate ourselves in our Latin American.

This research studies exploratorily the relationship between socio-spatial segregation in the spread of the COVID-19 disease and its lethality in the city of Lima. The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have revealed the inconsistencies of an uncontrolled urban growth in different Peruvian cities as well as inequalities within them, boosting the devastating effects of the pandemic, what placed Peru at the top of the list of the countries with the highest lethality in the world from COVID -19. In this regard, it is considered the urban-socio spatial segregation as the spread and amplifying cause of the COVID-19, especially in popular sectors. Methodologically, the research is based on the exploratory method using a mixed methodology bibliographic review, field observation and quantitative data to approach the effects of the pandemic and the unequal impact in Lima city.

This article is about the process of population ageing in Peru and Latin America, in the context of the pandemic. During the last 20 years, Latin American people have been ageing. This scenario presents several dilemmas for governments. Peru has faced this situation for about 10 years. The latest statistical figures have shown this demographic trend. This situation stablishes some challenges for the Peruvian government. Therefore, the situation of the elderly, the existing social policies and the social service programs will be analyzed. Methodologically, the research presents a theoretical discussion, a bibliographic review, and a systematization of various experiences.

Since 1990 - 2020 informality and precariousness have deepened in Peruvian society, transforming not only the economic field but also the ways of thinking and doing politics. In this sense, the new popular political identity is redefined from new historical coordinates: neoliberalism, informality and precariousness in a cultural context marked by the expansion of transgression give rise to new sensibilities, values and aspirations of a new political individual who today it finds a new form of expression and political representation. The objective of the article is to analyze the new youth political identities that are emerging in the popular sectors. The methodology used has been qualitative, 16 in-depth interviews were conducted inSan Juan de Lurigancho in 2019.

The experience of political violence in Peru generated, among other consequences, a profound gap in the relationship between the history taught and the processes of consolidation of historical memory and identity; being that the school is a public space where memory is built. Its present possibilities and limitations are related to the teaching of the recent and living past. For the purposes of this research, we intend to analyze the contents of the history books that are taught in schools in Peru and the collective memory about the period of political violence in students at public schools in the 5th year of secondary education. This article addresses urban growth in Metropolitan Lima in a context of inequality. It aims to identify the city’s uneven urban growth and the high level of urban fragmentation and segregation that has been predominant over the past decade. It is analyzed from the perspective of urban sociology how a new social, cultural and economic overflow has been produced and reproduced in the city. We maintain that in Metropolitan Lima it has been configured as a segregated and segregated city. Methodologically, a documentary analysis and a review of bibliographic sources are proposed. Finally, by way of conclusions, the need to know and recognize the urban problems of our city is affirmed for a greater efficiency and effectiveness of urban policies.

Plantea la compleja relación del discurso político y la cultura política popular en la ciudad. Investigación que realiza una breve revisión histórica, social, cultural y política, para identificar y explicar el nuevo discurso político del fujimorismo, en la versión de Keiko Fujimori, el cual se encuentra conectado con las nuevas identidades políticas en la ciudad, identidades políticas polimorfas que han surgido como expresión de una nueva cultura política popular. Metodológicamente, es una investigación aplicativa, de naturaleza descriptiva, comprensiva y hermenéutica. El estudio se plantea como cualitativo, hace uso de dos técnicas cualitativas: análisis del discurso y entrevistas a profundidad.

The neoliberal economy in its process of expansion and continuous capacity of reinvention has been adapted to the new contexts of crisis and has generated socioeconomics relations under new forms of labor relations and mechanisms of work. This is how since the last decade new forms of independent work have massively emerged, precarious jobs in the so called collaborative economy that reproduce and extend the continuous informalization and precariousness of employment in Peruvian society, now involved in the entrepreneurship speech. The aim is to analyze the new emerging labor forms in the precariat economy, all of this on the base of a case study of the delivery men of the Rappi, Uber eats and Glovo platforms. The methodology used has been qualitative, 12 in-depth interviews were conducted, the fieldwork was carried out between 2018-2019 in Lima Metropolitana.

This article analyzes the fears and concerns many Venezuelan immigrants living in Peru go through every day. It delves into the communication dynamics between Peruvians and Venezuelans, as well as into its consequences at an intersubjective level. Methodologically, it is based on data gathered from interviews in Ayacucho, Chiclayo, Cusco and mainly in Lima. Basically, the life histories of immigrants in vulnerable situation are analyzed, whether they are unemployed, asking for financial support on the street or having undergone any difficult experience. Finally, the expectations they hold on the future are joined together, identifying a series of hopes they embrace to survive to the exploitation and discrimination they would face. However, this study still addresses the encouraging frameworks in a country that, as it is understood, is still an important migration destination for them.

El presente artículo, explora el malestar social a partir del fenómeno de la violencia, generado por una democracia limitada e insuficiente, para proveer seguridad a la sociedad, creando un tipo de individuo que se mueve en un marco cultural, signado por el consumismo y la transgresión como forma de vida, el cual termina por erosionar las bases mismas de la institucionalidad democrática.
