This article examines two narrative texts published in Peru during the sixties: Los inocentes. Relatos de collera ([1961] 2011) by Oswaldo Reynoso (1932-2016), and Los cachorros (1967) by Mario Vargas Llosa. The analysis focuses on the construction of identities among the adolescent subjects who star in them, considering elements such as social class, generation, gender, territory, language and others, as part of the emergence of the so-called “youth cultures” in western societies since the fifties. In addition, it recognizes the differences between both narratives in terms of the representation of youth cultures, particularly with respect to the relationship that adolescent subjects establish with hegemonic culture.

The article examines three stories published by Peruvian writer Pilar Dughi (1956-2006) throughout her career as a storyteller: “Conciliación”, “Futuro prometido” and “Los guiños del destino”. The analysis and the interpretation address the representation of their female protagonists from a gender perspective, taking into account the roles, identities and positions that the patriarchal order assigns to them, both in the private and public spheres. The central thesis of the article is that the protagonists, through acceptance or negotiation in their relationships with the opposite sex whether within or outside of marriage , represent the complexity of “being a woman” in a society in which diverse and contradictory discourses on female gender identity coexist.

Asimismo, delinea las principales preocupaciones de un conjunto representativo de sus artículos que abordan problemascomo la difusión de la lectura, la vocación literaria, así como la construcción de una tradición literaria peruana moderna. La novela histórica Madame Gauguin (2022), de Fietta Jarque (Lima, 1956), se centra en una serie de episodios significativos de las vidas de Aline Gauguin (1825-1867) y su hijo Paul Gauguin (1848-1903). En este artículo se reconocen en ella algunos de los rasgos de la llamada nueva novela histórica o novela posmoderna (Ainsa, 1991; Grützmacher, 2006; Menton, 1993) a partir del vínculo entre la historiografía y la ficción; para ello, se emplean los aportes de Hutcheon (1999) y White (1992, 2003). Se adopta, además, una perspectiva de género para analizar la construcción de la identidad de la protagonista en el marco de la sociedad patriarcal de la época. Por último, se analiza la relación intertextual que la novela establece con El Paraíso en la otra esquina (2003), de Mario Vargas Llosa.
