Goal 5 is a government initiative through the Ministry of Economy and Finance's municipal incentives program to improve the sustainable quality of drinking water and sanitation services. Its main objective is to close the gaps in access to and consumption of safe water and sanitation in rural areas of Peru. This research relates the variables of compliance with Goal 5 and the improvement of water and sanitation services in the Lagunas district, Alto Amazonas province, from 2019 to 2023. A quantitative approach was used, with a descriptive-correlational, non-experimental, longitudinal study level. The study population included 14 municipal officials, and the sampling was census type (population = sample), using a questionnaire for data collection.
