Tuberculosis is the infectious disease responsible for the majority of deaths worldwide. The complex natural history of Mycobacterium tuberculosis means that people with latent and active infections must be identified. Also considering that resistant strains of tuberculosis are on the rise, as Multidrug Resistant (MDR) Tuberculosis is responsible for approximately a quarter of all deaths caused by antimicrobial resistant infections, and some of these strains extend resistance to Pre-extremely resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR) it is necessary to identify the prevalence of the latter, in addition to the risk factors for this extension of resistance.
