Donating an organ involves voluntarily give to another person who needs a tissue or an organ, in order to preserve its health or save its life, in this sense, it constitutes an altruistic human activity that seeks the good of the needy; however, there are several factors involved that today exist to create a negative to the donation, bringing forward in this context ethical questions that have more to do with the shortage of organs, the fair selection of recipients, among others. La caracterología se ocupa de describir las formas de manifestación del carácter. Mientras que la Empatía es la habilidad que nos permite saber cómo otro ser se siente, piensa, y poder entender sus emociones. El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar los tipos caracterológicos y los niveles de las escalas de la Empatía Cognitiva/Afectiva, según edad, sexo y años de trabajo en profesionales de la salud que laboran en un hospital de Lambayeque. Para ello se aplicó a 209 profesionales de un hospital, el cuestionario Caracterológico de Berger validado por Vicuña, el cual posee confiabilidad mayor a 0,89 en sus tres dimensiones y el test de Empatía Cognitiva y Afectiva de López- Pérez, el cual posee confiabilidad superior a mayores de 0,70 en sus cuatro escalas.
