This article aims to describe the low board shipbuilding sector of Peru in the 2010-2016 period. The results of a scientific research based on a non-experimental, cross-sectional and descriptive methodology are shown with data provided by the Dirección General de Capitanías y Guardacostas. The article begins with a general and historical description of the sector, detailing the close relationship of this industry with the fishing sector. The results generally show an industry in recession with high levels of informality, the maritime shipbuilding sector in crisis and the river shipbuilding sector consolidating itself as the most important in the country's low-board shipbuilding.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo describir el sector construcción naval de bajo bordo del Perú en el periodo de tiempo 2010-2016. Se muestran los resultados de una investigación científica basada en metodología no experimental, de tipo transversal y descriptivo con datos suministrados por la Dirección General de Capitanías y Guardacostas. El artículo inicia con una descripción general e histórica del sector, resaltando la estrecha relación de esta industria con el sector pesquero. Los resultados muestran a modo general una industria en recesión con altos niveles de informalidad, el sector construcción naval marítimo en crisis y el sector construcción naval fluvial consolidándose como el mas importante en la construcción naval de bajo bordo del país.
