Usually, historiography presents police as a precedent of Administrative Law. Nevertheless, a general overview explains the reason of reflection on the socio-political context preceding the liberal revolution. El profesor Reinhard Zimmermann, nacido en Hamburgo en 1952, es actualmente codirector del Instituto Max-Planck de Derecho Comparado y Derecho Internacional Privado. Zimmermann es un importante exponente del método histórico-crítico, quien, a través de la reconstrucción de los orígenes romanos de las distintas instituciones de derecho privado, pretende presentar una visión panorámica de los distintos ordenamientos jurídicos y contribuir a la unificación del derecho privado en Europa.
