Hasta la realización de este trabajo de investigación los historiadores de arte consideraban a la Arquitectura Virreinal Peruana como, manifestación decorativa derivada de los estilos arquitectónicos europeos y no como lo que se demuestra: escuelas de arquitectura adaptadas a las regiones, caracterizada por innovaciones en las técnicas constructivas, uso de materiales, creación de estilos arquitectónicos e incorporación de técnicas antisísmicas. Esto último inexistente en la arquitectura europea

El descubrimiento del sector de la Muralla de Lima, entre las avenidas Abancay y Lampa, al costado del convento de San Francisco, construida bajo el gobierno del Virrey Duque de la Palata, permite ampliar el conocimiento acerca de cómo era la muralla virreinal de Lima, porque aporta una nueva versión hasta ahora no conocida por los historiadores convencionales. De acuerdo a este descubrimiento es necesario rectificar el trazado comúnmente ofrecido por los planos de Lima tanto los de proyección inclinada de Nolasco en cuanto a los baluartes, como los de proyección vertical en lo referente a la existencia de muralla por el sector urbano de la barranca del río.

The discovery of a part of the Wall of Lima, between Abancay and Lampa avenues, next to the San Francisco convent, built by the government of the Virrey, Duque de laPalata, allows to expand the knowledge about how was the great virreinal wall of Lima, because it improves a new vision, not known so far by conventional historians.Because of this discovery it is necessary to rectify the route commonly offered by the maps of Lima like the projection of Nolasco in case of the bastions as well as the vertical projection refered to the existence of the great wall at the urban sector of the river cliff.

Till the realization of the present research work, art historians considered that the Peruvian viceregal architectureas a decorative manifestation derived of European architectural stiles, and not of what is demonstrated in this article:the Peruvian viceregal architectureis the result of architectural schools adapted to the local regions, characterized by technological innovations, the use of materials, the creation of architectural stiles and the introduction ofearthquakeproof techniques. This later one, did not exist in the European architecture
