This paper discusses La segunda parte del Parnaso Antártico de divinos poemas (1617) (Antarctic Parnassus, Part Two: Poems of the Divine), by Diego Mexía de Fernangil, whose manuscript is in the National Library of France, with the purpose of extracting some appraising samples of a literary text of the 17th century that leads to a critique of Peruvian society, after the first eighty years of the settlement of European institutions. The work under analysis has been selected because it belongs to an author highly representative of the national literature of the 1600s and because it is a famous literary text, although hardly published. Diego Mexía was a book inquisitor, conspicuous member of the Academia Antártica (Antarctic Academy), traveler and notable cultural disseminator. El presente artículo da cuenta del manuscrito único que se encuentra en la Biblioteca Nacional de Francia de la obra de Diego Mexía de Fernangil titulada La segunda parte del Parnaso Antártico de divinos poemas (1617), inédita hasta la fecha. Describe los estudios y ediciones parciales que ha tenido el texto, señala su importancia; y propone su edición paleográfica y también modernizada.

In this article we try to present some relevant aspects of the fictional nature of El Marañón of Diego de Aguilar y Cordova. To this end, we will make evident the narrator’s discursive strategies, the fictional aspects related to the legends of the New World; and finally, as evidence of Aguilar’s obvious literary work, we want to show the differences regarding to his main reference source. Unlike other contemporary texts that deal with the same adventure of Lope de Aguirre, this work is clearly profiled as an artistic and successfully finished work of the renaissance in Peru.
