Este 2022, la Maestría en Antropología de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú cumple 50 años de actividad ininterrumpida. Fundada en 1972, es uno de los programas de posgrado en antropología pioneros en América Latina y durante este medio siglo ha venido contribuyendo sostenidamente a la comprensión de la complejidad sociocultural del país y la región. Esta es una historia caracterizada por una constante insistencia en el trabajo de campo etnográfico, así como un continuo enriquecimiento y diversificación de temas, aparatos teóricos, enfoques metodológicos y ámbitos de trabajo de campo. Estos son 50 años de contribuciones concretas a la consolidación de la disciplina en el país y la región.

El 20 de agosto de 2020 falleció el doctor Jorge A. Flores Ochoa, una figura fundamental en la antropología cuzqueña y peruana por sus múltiples méritos como investigador, docente, intelectual omprometido y animador cultural infatigable. This paper proposes some ideas regarding the history of the Quyllurit’i pilgrimage by paying close attention to the particularities of the wayri ch’unchu ritual dance. After reviewing the available historic evidence about it, the text proposes that the location of the shrine at the bottom of the Qulqipunku glacier (Ocongate, Cusco) is explained by its liminal position between the Andean highlands and the Amazon. The location of the Qulqipunku, and its difference with the Ausangate, is very evident for the communities living in the surroundings of Qulqipunku. The text proposes that these communities were the main protagonists of the pilgrimage at least until the end of the 19th century. Canon Minero hasincreased sudden and spectacularly the municipality’s funds so muchthat currently San Marcos in «ones of the Peruvian richest districts».The paper pays attention to the municipal elections of 2006 and theimplementation of the Plan Piloto de Mantenimiento de la InfraestructuraPública, a program of temporary work for all San Marcos’citizens. Recently, on August 20, 2020, Dr. Jorge A. Flores Ochoa passed away. He has been a fundamental figure in Cuzco and Peruvian anthropology due to his multiple merits as a researcher, professor, engaged intellectual and tireless cultural animator. This text reviews his main research themes and interests, in particular his notable contributions and constant study of Andean pastoralist societies and, associated with this, his studies regarding the management of  andean agro-ecological complexity. The article then moves to his research on Cuzco’s colonial and republican art and material culture, his ethnography of the city’s and region’s religious celebrations, his broader contributions to the anthropology of the city of Cuzco and his interpretations and analysis on the history and importance of contemporary Cuzco Incanism.
