Esta investigación fue realizada durante el primer semestre del 2020, tuvo como principal objetivo determinar la relación entre la gestión municipal y el desarrollo económico local de la provincia de San Martin, 2020. Fue de tipo básica, diseño no experimental, nivel descriptivo – correlacional. La muestra fueron 57 trabajadores de la municipalidad provincial de San Martin. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la encuesta y los instrumentos dos cuestionarios. Los resultados demostraron que la gestión municipal es inadecuada al 77.2% y el 77.2% corroboró que existe un bajo nivel de desarrollo económico local, se analizó un periodo de 10 años del desarrollo económico, la evolución fue constante alcanzando al 2018 el punto máximo con un 14.1%, pero en el 2019 se redujo al 10.5% y finalmente en el año 2020 solo representa el 5% del desarrollo total.
