El estudio se realizó de enero a julio del 2013 en tres parcelas de “Pijuayo” Bactris gasipaes, ubicada en la jurisdicción del distrito de Caynarachi, provincia de Lamas región San Martín; se trabajó con la finalidad de determinar la riqueza, densidad, biomasa y distribución vertical de los macroinvertebrados (mayor de 2 mm. de diámetro) del suelo. Las muestras biológicas se colectaron empleando la metodología establecido por la TSBF (Anderson & Ingran, 1993), consistente en hacer un monolito de 25x25x30 cm. de profundidad a lo largo de 50 m. de diámetro por parcela.
