La presente investigación se desarrolló en el departamento de San Martin. El objetivo principal de este estudio es conocer las preferencias demandadas por los estudiantes al momento de elegir una carrera universitaria, así también la preferencia de la universidad para realizar sus estudiossuperiores. El método de estudio fue de tipo descriptivo, de diseño transversal. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por 1435 estudiantes de 14 a 20 años que vienen cursando del 3er año al 5to de secundaria la cual se tuvo como referencia las Provincias y Distritos de la Región San Martín.
