This presentation will analyze Ricardo Palma’s tradition «Los polvos de la condesa», and will make a brief review of the ancestral medicinal wisdom during the Peruvian viceroyalty, emphasizing the role of biology in society, the importance of native species such as the Cinchona bark and the way it is portrayed in Ricardo Palma’s work.
