The article explores the philosophical proposal of Mariano Iberico’s new absolute, within the Peruvian avant-garde movement. Iberian, he belonged to an intermediate generation: between that of the Nine Hundred and the Centennial, at the beginning of the 20th century. He also participated in the emergence and dynamics of the avant-garde movement in the country, through a set of ideas and proposals, from philosophy. We will take care of this. First we will address some general concepts about European avant-garde, since it was there where it emerged, as a response to the crisis of the prevailing order, supported by philosophical positivism. Later, we will deal with the Peruvian avant-garde movement, which is known more for its literary expression, however, here we question this and consider that it was a broader and more diverse movement. Mariano Iberico is a key figure in 20th-century Peruvian philosophy, both for his adherence to Bergsonism and for his original «philosophy of appearance». However, his biography has been little explored. This article examines previously unknown aspects of his life, from his family origins in Pataz and Chachapoyas to his childhood in Cajamarca. His family’s integration into the local elite allowed him access to a distinguished academic education. Despite an early visual impairment, Iberico excelled as a student. He completed his primary and secondary education at renowned institutions such as Colegio San Ramón and pursued three degrees at the National University of San Marcos. The analysis, based on previously unpublished documents, argues that his family, social, and educational environment played a decisive role in shaping his philosophical thought.

Identifica los aportes y limitaciones de las interpretaciones y periodificaciones del pensamiento ibericano de Salazar, Miró Quesada y Sobrevilla, lo que sirve de base para el objetivo principal: realizar una propuesta de periodificación del pensamiento ibericano a partir de los conceptos de materia y de forma complementaria, de espacio e imagen. Desde el punto de vista del autor, habría operado un tránsito en el pensamiento ibericano desde una ontología negativa a una positiva de la triada materia, espacio e imagen, desde “El carácter” hasta “El nuevo absoluto”, pasando por “El viaje del espíritu” hasta “La aparición histórica”.
