El presente estudio se ejecutó en el vivero agroforestal del Programa Nacional de Investigación Forestal del Instituto Nacional de Innovación Agraria (INIA) Estación experimental Agraria "El porvenir", durante un periodo de siete meses. Esta investigación tuvo como principal objetivo la evaluación del efecto de sustratos inoculados con micorrizas vesículo arbusculares en el crecimiento inicial de cuatro especies forestales en fase de vivero. El experimento estaba representado por 16 tratamientos y 4 repeticiones, evaluando 16 plantas por tratamiento, constituidas por 256 plántulas entre las 4 especies forestales.
