This research focused on the analysis of the ecotoxicological effects of ballast water transported by ships arriving from international trips to the port of Callao on juveniles of Odontesthes regia regia (Pejerrey), through an acute bioassay that determined the mortality of more than 50% of the organisms from the C3 concentration; as well as an evaluation of physicochemical and microbiological parameters that revealed pH values outside the normal range of marine waters with the presence of heterotrophic bacteria in quantities of 210 units. Likewise, the management of the waste that the ships disposed of through naval devices and aquatic reception facilities during the years of 2017 to 2019 in 11 seaports of Peru was evaluated, being the port of Callao the largest receiver with 1,044.95 m3 of mixtures oily and 385.71 t of waste and the port of Chancay the one of lower transfer with ...

This research presents the methodology for the evaluation of the ecotoxicological effects of potassium chloride in the red worm Eisenia foetida, through a 14-day chronic exposure bioassay. The biological material in adult stage from the worm hatchery area of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, was subjected to 5 concentrations to determine the LC50 and mortality as the end point, showing deformation, discoloration, inflammation, and abnormal bulging in the clitellar zone of the worms during the process, also carrying out the measurement of the environmental parameters of pH, temperature, and humidity of the substrate (soil) at 1, 4, 7, 10 and 14 days.

This research presents the analysis of port and aquatic management in Peru, on the control and combat of pollution from oil spills from ships; based on a detailed review of the various environmental instruments and international organizations, which promote and promote the exchange of information and technology, to prevent and mitigate socio-environmental and economic risk at the local, national, and regional level, which may compromise its main water resources and aquatic biota. Likewise, the statistics of spills over time are shown, with a total of 922.74 m3 of hydrocarbons discharged, being the aquatic port area of Yurimaguas and Zorritos the one with the greatest impact, considering the response capacity and preparation and the availability of equipment and means available to face these events.

The objective of this research was to characterize the aquatic activities that take place in the Vraem area; as well as to identify the environmental liabilities and sources of anthropic contamination on the banks and marginal strips adjacent to the rivers, caused by the formation of urban drains due to the lack of wastewater treatment plants and sewage and drainage networks; accumulation and clogging of solid waste from water transport, houses and riverside food stalls, leachate from drug maceration ponds inserted into rivers by runoff and percolation, and sedimentation and soil erosion by extraction of alluvial material. The methodology was based on the execution of a non-experimental investigation, with the collection of data in the field from observation and measurement tools. A total of 297 boats and 86 chimpanzee-type riverboats were registered, navigating the main rivers of the Vr...

The objective of this research was to identify the risks and impacts to the environment and public health generated by ship dismantling operations in Peru, through the shipyard and dry dock services, whose regulations are supported by the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships and the scrapping plans authorized by the National Maritime Authority as the supervisory and supervisory entity of these activities. In this sense, the potential danger of some chemical substances adhering to the process residues was analyzed; such as asbestos, Volatile Organic Compounds, Polychlorinated Biphenyls and lead, with bioaccumulative and biopersistent capacity to insert themselves in the trophic chain and alter their ecological niche, due to their inadequate handling and final disposal that result in risks associated with the occupational health and s...

This research is carried out within the scope of the modernization of the Port System of San Juan de Marcona, whose sustainability approach based on the growth of port activities and the protection of the marine environment, is linked to the operations carried out by the Shougang mining companies and Marcobre, through the management and handling of solid waste and oily mixtures that they receive from ships at their terminals. The objective was to analyze the cycle of waste from its source of generation to its disposal, to know the state of environmental conditions presented by coastal waters and the impact on aquatic ecosystems. The methodology presented an explanatory investigation, identifying the number of existing aquatic and terrestrial reception facilities in the jurisdiction, the result of which revealed the scarce infrastructure and limited capacity for the temporary storage of w...
