Macrobrachium amazonicum, known as the Amazon river shrimp, was studied at five sampling stations in the Amazon region to map its populations, characterize the habitats of natural banks, and analyze its population structure. The results reveal notable variations in environmental conditions: Ponilla stands out for its optimal conditions of low turbidity and moderate temperature, while Alto Chambira presents high temperatures that could be harmful, and Yawar faces critical issues of low oxygen concentration and high turbidity. Simuy shows high levels of ammonium, and Pumayacu has high turbidity but adequate oxygen levels. Regarding population structure, Ponilla has the highest average shrimp weight, while Simuy shows the greatest average length with high variability in weight.
