The study addresses the importance of relational capital and innovative capacity, sources of competitive advantage. Relational capital represents the knowledge incorporated to the company as a result of its external relations with customers, suppliers, competitors, alliances, among others, thus allowing to generate new knowledge that turns out to be superior, because it is a product of the combination of the company's knowledge of its operating environment which favors innovation since knowledge is an essential resource. Objective: To assess the relevance of non-financial information, its preparation and communication by the top management of the companies listed in the Lima Stock Exchange. Method: The research was exploratory and descriptive, and a measurement instrument was applied to 69 companies, as of December 2019. Results: The top management considers non-financial information as relevant for decision-making; however, there is little knowledge about non-financial reports used internationally and there is also less acceptance in voluntarily communicating this information. The identification of this gap generates opportunities to further research its causes and recommend actions to reduce such gap. Describe y explica la influencia que tiene el capital relacional en la capacidad innovadora de la industria farmacéutica nacional a través de una investigación correlacional con un diseño no experimental. Encuentra que las dimensiones de alianzas, relaciones con los proveedores y con los clientes del capital relacional influyen en la capacidad innovadora. Por otro lado, encuentra que no ocurre lo mismo respecto a las relaciones con los competidores. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que el capital relacional influye positivamente en la capacidad innovadora de las empresas farmacéuticas peruanas en el período 2012-2016, lo cual permitirá diseñar una propuesta que mejore la competitividad de dicha industria y que aporte al crecimiento, la salud y el bienestar del país.
