The present study aimed to determine the relationship between family abandonment and depression among older adults treated at the Regional Hospital of Loreto, Iquitos, during the year 2025. The research followed a quantitative methodological approach with a descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The study population consisted of 120 older adults, from which a sample of 92 participants was selected from the Elderly Care Center of the aforementioned hospital. The interview technique was applied, and the instruments used were the Family Abandonment Scale and the Geriatric Depression Scale of Yesavage (GDS).
