OBJECTIVES. To describe ectopic pregnancy chorion villi histological patterns. DESIGN. Descriptive, retrospective anatomic and pathologic study. SETTING. Pathology Department, Maternal Perinatal National Institute, Lima, Peru (INMP). BIOLOGIC MATERIAL. Ectopic pregnancies chorion villi. INTERVENTIONS. The histological characteristics of a series of 98 ectopic pregnancies from the files of the Department of Pathology were studied. MAIN OUTCOMEMEASURES. Histological patterns of chorion villi.RESULTS. We describe five different histological patterns of chorial villi. CONCLUSIONS. The possibility that these chorial villi histology changes are related to materno-fetal pathology is considered.

A case of chorioangioma of the placenta associated with an abnormal proliferation of the trophoblast, condition that has been called chorangiocarcinoma, is reported. This is the fifth report on the subject in the medical literature. The current case presented preeclampsia, angioma in the newborn and atypical proliferation of the endothelial cell, aspects not mentioned in previous reports.

In order to study some characteristics of trophoblastic lung embolism, a series of 80 cases of maternal death is reviewed. It is confirmed that the disturbance is more frequent in eclámpicas and also shows that most often is associated with gestational age.

We review the different mechanisms for loss of chromosome Y, including environmental factors that cause mosaicism. The different pathological processes due to its loss, including neoplasms, autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases, are summarized. A subgroup of newborns with numerical chromosome abnormalities (45 X /46 XY) presents a characteristic phenotype, so it should be included as a variant of congenital loss of chromosome Y.

A consecutive series of 80 autopsies of neonatimuertos, whose weights range between 1,000 and 2,500 grams is presented. Most patients died in the early neonatal period and the most frequent cause of death was infection. Considering the importance of early attention as a problem of medical emergency and noted the emphasis is on the high incidenciade mortality from preventable conditions.

Objective: To present cases with pancreatic cystic fibrosis (mucoviscidosis) identified in neonatal necropsies and to verify its identification clinical profile. Design: Histologic descriptive, retrospective study with analytical component. Setting: Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal (INMP), Lima, Peru. Materials: Pancreatic cystic fibrosis lesions in neonates necropsies. Interventions: Series of 17 cases with pancreatic cystic fibrosis (mucoviscidosis) identified by histology, in 144 neonatal necropsies done in the first semester 1995. In such period there were 18 011 live newborns. In order to verify if there was an identification clinical profile in this group we compared it with other three series of autopsies with the same basic cause of death but without mucoviscidosis signs. We used Z distribution to determine difference significance between proportions of the clinical character...

In children, the most common renal tumor is the nephroblastoma or Wilms tumor. This does not happen in the newborn or fetus, although it is true that they can be found proliferative lesions that resemble Wilms tumor, such as nephroblastomatosis, the monomorphic epithelial nephroblastoma and mesoblastic nephroma (11) all of which They are grouped under the name of childhood Wilms congeners. In this group, a tumor that has well-defined characteristics, which is relevant check is called mesoblastic nephroma. A case that was recently observed in the Laboratory of Pathology of the Maternity Hospital of Lima in order to encourage the study of this entity and discuss some aspects considered interesting to discuss is presented.

Clinical picture and karyotype of perinatal cases of Granulosa Cell tumor are reviewed comparing them with cases of other age groups described in the literatura. A group of Granulosa Cell Tumor in the testis of newborns presents clinical differences, as in their karyotype, and should be considered with merits to be studied.
