Antecedentes: la prevalencia de caries de infancia temprana (CIT) en niños entre tres y cinco años es alta en Perú. El uso diario de pasta dental fluorada es el método más eficaz para el control de la CIT. Objetivo: determinar las prácticas sobre el uso de pasta dental en niños menores tres años que acuden al programa de Crecimiento y Desarrollo del Niño y la Niña menor de Cinco Años (CRED) del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé. Materiales y métodos: estudio transversal que aplica una encuesta tipo entrevista sobre prácticas de higiene bucal a 502 padres/cuidadores que acudieron al CRED.
