Fifty years after its foundation, the scientific production of the Peruvian Institute of Nuclear Energy (IPEN), whose infrastructure includes as a centerpiece the RP-10 research reactor, a 10 MW reactor that acts as a neutron beam source, is analyzed. For this evaluation, the bibliographic database Scopus, recognized by CONCYTEC to measure scientific production in Peru, is used. Since its beginnings, IPEN has developed research in nuclear fission, uranium geology, neutronics and applications of chemical analysis by neutron activation and fission fingerprinting. However, at present, the only active line of research is related to applications of neutron activation analysis, with an average annual production of only two articles published in journals indexed in Scopus. A critical aspect is the inactivity in the RP-10 neutron tubes due to the lack of adequate instrumentation and research per...

This paper analyzes the production indicators for the period 2000-2020 of the Peruvian Institute of Nuclear Energy, an institution that researches and applies knowledge of ionizing radiation. The research institute published an average of one article per year between 1984 and 2000. During the period 2001 to 2006, some policies were applied. Staff salaries were tripled, allowing the incorporation of researchers with experience in scientific research. The number of publications increased from 01 in 2001 to 15 in 2007 as a result of intense work done in 2006. These policies were ignored in 2007 with a significant change in research productivity in years to come. Finally, an overall analysis determines that: (a) management actions are different from manager director to manager director and the changes substantially affect research productivity, (b) the policy that increases researcher salary...

Objective: To implement a Postal Quality Control System to verify the Treatment Planning System in Teletherapy using Dosimeters Al2O3 :C, based on optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), commercially known as OSLD nanoDotTM. Materials and Methods: A mannequin containing OSLD nanoDot TM dosimeters, (Al2O3 :C), previously characterized and calibrated for the energy of a 6.0 MV x-ray beam generated in a linear accelerator, the absorbed dose values were measured with: a Semiflex, ionization chamber, PTW – Freigburg electrometer, 3D radiation geometries, such as: Simple geometry (open field at 0º and 25º), Complex geometry (three open fields at 0º, 90º and 270º) and Combined geometry (field and various variations of Gantry rotation), using square fields (6cm2), circular (diameter 6cm), oblique (6cm x 6cm) and Irregular, equal weights and virtual wedge filters in different ...
