The utilitarian approach, normalized by humans as a way to relate with other non-human forms of life has led us to build a lifestyle that has generated irreparable and irreversible environmental damages. In such context, this article offers a complex view from some voices of contemporary hermeneutics about the relationship between nature and its possibility of accessing rights. For this purpose, research is divided into four sections. We initially propose a review of the links between anthropocentrism, modern law and the construction of the modern subject’s identity. Next, an interpretation of the search and production of knowledge as an activity capable of causing destructive effects to the environment is offered in relation to the previous ideas. Then, such perspective is complemented by a reflection on the myth of scientific objectivism, as a homogenizing attitude that colonizes dif...

In the framework of the discussions produced after the fiftieth anniversary of Hans-Georg Gadamer’s publication of Truth and Method (1960) this paper intends to address two issues of Gadamer’shermeneutics. The first issue seeks to establish the articulating thread betweenTruth and Method, still attached to the debate with traditional hermeneutics, and some formulations of Gadamer’s later work, where “the soul of hermeneutics” isdisplayed as “art of listening to the other”. The second issue seeks to highlight the rehabilitation that Gadamer makes of the Socratic-Platonic eumeneîs élenchoi, an expression that he translates as the “art of strengthening the discourse of theother”, whose explicitness in his later work has enabled many interpreters of his work to see a possible dialogue between his hermeneutics and some aspects ofthe philosophy of Donald Davidson.

Within the framework of some of Dilthey's themes such as historicity, finitude and the ineffability of all human productions, the A. approaches the problem of Subjectivity in relation to the Human Sciences (Geisteswissenschaften) which, conceived as forms of self-reflection of historical life itself, put in evidence a Subject compelled to redefine its cognitive possibilities. This task leads Dilthey to a hermeneutical proposal, the main value of which lies in not having eluded facticity and temporality proper to life, and in having proposed them as domains where all intellectual activity finds its limits and the openness to new possibilities of sense.

This paper examines the presence of the Husserlian operative concept of the "lifeworld"in Hans-Georg Gadamer's hermeneutic philosophy. It is suggested that, regardless of Gadamer·s criticisms to the method and the foundational project of phenomenology, it is possible to highlight in his interpretation of Husserl's work relevant shared aspects for the clarification of his own position. These are concerned with the struggle against objectivism and its alienating effects against cultural and social praxis, as well as the rehabilitation of a pre-reflective space previous to logic and scientific research, which are regarded by both authors as the ground where all cultural products are rooted.
