El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar la influencia de la lectura de cuentos en la comprensión lectora del inglés en estudiantes de primer grado de secundaria de la UGEL Celendín, contribuyendo así, al logro de una educación de calidad y a la reducción de las desigualdades en el aprendizaje del inglés. Las teorías fundamentales incluyen la psicolingüística, que describe la lectura como proceso de construcción de significados. El tipo de investigación fue experimental con un diseño pretest y postest, con grupos de control y experimental. La población fue de 181 estudiantes, la muestra no probabilística incluyó 18 estudiantes de primero “A” y 20 de primero “B” La recolección de datos utilizó un cuestionario con preguntas, que evalúo la comprensión lectora en sus tres niveles.
