This article examines some characteristics of a Peruvian political party during theAristocratic Republic (1895-1919): the Partido Constitucional. It explores its socialcomposition, how it functioned and its interests. Likewise, it analyzes the party on a local level, concretely, in Ayacucho, the department where it was important. The main primary sources are the party’s documents, private letters among its members, and the political press.
