The city of Tacna is in seismic silence, waiting for a large earthquake and the environmental effects that this causes. The objective of the investigation was to determine the prevailing frequencies and periods of some earthquakes registered in the city of Tacna, using the Fourier analysis and spectrum. Earthquakes of the present century, of a magnitude greater than 5.0 Mw and from different near, intermediate and distant seismogenic sources were selected. The research used the Fourier mathematical model to process seismic signals, from the time domain to the frequency domain, then, the prevailing frequencies and periods of the different signals were analyzed and learned. For better signal processing, a code was created in Matlab to perform the calculations, which were then verified using the Seismosignal software. In highly seismic regions, many buildings lack modern energy dissipation mechanisms, increasing their vulnerability. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the distribution of seismic energy across the different levels of prototype structures with 3, 6, and 9 stories, retrofitted with CRP-type hysteretic dampers, using the energy balance method. The capacity curves of each structure were initially determined using nonlinear pushover analysis; subsequently, the retrofitted models were evaluated with two types of nonlinear dynamic analyses. The first, using three ground motions scaled to the design level, showed a significant reduction in distortions after retrofitting. La presente investigación cuantitativa tuvo como objetivo principal plantear una adecuada alternativa de cimentación a partir de la realización de estudios geotécnicos mediante los ensayos de laboratorio y métodos geofísicos: refracción sísmica y MASW en las asociaciones de vivienda Los Damnificados del 23 de junio B, Corazón de María y El Manantial, ubicados en el Distrito Coronel Gregorio Albarracín Lanchipa de la ciudad de Tacna. Con los ensayos de refracción sísmica se conoció la estratigrafía del terreno y su ripabilidad, con el ensayo de MASW se encontraron las propiedades dinámicas del suelo y su clasificación según NTE E.030, mientras que los ensayos de laboratorio determinan las propiedades físicas, químicas y mecánicas del suelo.
