Objective. To determine whether the use of antihypertensives is associated with reduced risk of nontraumatic hip fracture in patients at Hospital Belén de Trujillo, 2017-2022. Methods. A retrospective, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted. According to the selection criteria, 160 adult patients were included and divided into 2 groups: with or without nontraumatic hip fracture; then, the prevalence ratio and the chi-square statistical test were applied. Results. Mean age and frequency of osteoporosis were significantly higher in the group of patients with hip fracture (p < 0.05). The consumption of thiazide antihypertensives was a protective factor for non-traumatic hip fracture, with a prevalence ratio of 0.29, which was significant (p < 0.05).
